42 storey tower block rejected for Vauxhall

Thanks to the fight put up by Maureen Johnston (KOV Forum Chair), the Kennington Association, Viva Vauxhall, Friends of Vauxhall Park and many others at the public enquiry in summer of 2010, Lambeth Council's original decision to reject the planning application for a 500 foot tall skyscraper has been upheld by the Secretary of State. So that one won't be happening now. The grounds for the rejection were that there would be insufficient opportunities for pedestrian movement in the area, and the tower would erode the function and character of nearby Vauxhall Park.
