New Exhibition on Updated plans for the Garden at New Covent Garden Market 3-5 March

Covent Garden Market Authority (CGMA) has announced the dates for the third public exhibition of their plans for The Garden at New Covent Garden Market.

The exhibition will provide local residents and businesses with an opportunity to see CGMA’s updated plans for the redevelopment of The Garden which will see the UK’s largest fresh produce market transformed after over 35 years in Nine Elms.

CGMA say they have been incorporating comments received from a wide range of stakeholders as well as from the tenants on the Market.

This third exhibition will therefore display new information and images about all the elements of the site as part of CGMA’s final pre-application consultation activities before they submit a planning application to Wandsworth Borough Council. Visitors will have the chance to meet the project team and give their comments on the updated plans.

The exhibition itself will be based in the Yvonne Carr Community Centre, 2 Thessaly Road, SW8 4HT and will be open at the following times:

· Thursday 3 March, 4.00pm – 8.00pm
· Friday 4 March, 4.00pm – 8.00pm
· Saturday 5 March, 10.00am – 5.00pm

Jan Lloyd, Chief Executive of Covent Garden Market Authority, said:

“We have come a long way with our plans and received very positive responses to our previous exhibitions. Over the last year we have been incorporating the feedback we have received and engaging in further consultation with our tenants to ensure that we deliver a new Market that works for their businesses now and in the future.

“We have also introduced a major redesign of our plans for the Northern Site to provide a greater proportion of open space to benefit the local communities in the wider area.

“We hope that lots of people will come along to this third exhibition to see these updated plans and let us know what they think before we submit a planning application later in the year."

If you are unable to visit the exhibition but want to know more about the plans you can request a leaflet by emailing thegarden@cgma.co.uk or calling the dedicated hotline on 0800 977 8794. More information will also be available from Thursday 3 March on the New Covent Garden Market website - www.newcoventgardenmarket.com.
